Blue-cut lenses are designed to absorb anywhere from 10% to over 90% of blue light. Blue light is visible light with high energy in the range of 380 nanometers to 495 nanometers. This type of lens is designed to allow some blue light to pass through to prevent color distortion.

These eyeglasses have just a single optical prescription correction and they distribute focus evenly over the entire surface area of the lens. Most people that wear glasses usually get this type. If you have multiple prescriptions you would require bifocal or multifocal eyeglasses.

Progressive or varifocal lenses provide a smooth transition from distance correction to near correction, eliminating segment lines and allowing clear vision at all distances, including intermediate, near and far.

Polarized lenses have a special chemical applied to them to filter light. The chemical’s molecules are lined up specifically to block some of the light from passing through the lens. Think of it like a miniblind hanging in front of a window. Only light that passes through the blind’s openings can be seen.

Tinted lenses can enhance contrast and reduce eye fatigue, and with a light 20% tint, they can be the perfect solution for eyes sensitive to indoor light. Certain color tints offer unique benefits for your vision.

Transition lenses, or photochromic lenses, are the lenses that darken in the sunlight and lighten in softer light or the dark. These lenses have been around for a decade or more, and they offer the convenience of sunglasses without having to wear them over your prescription glasses or having to constantly switch between the two.

Trifocal lenses are similar to bifocals, except that the two focal areas are separated by a third middle area with intermediate focus correction. This area is used for intermediate vision; roughly at arms’ length, e.g. computer distance. This lens type has two segment lines, dividing the three different correcting segments.
